Artist statement and manifesto of a matter architect

Statement

I am a matter architect. An architect of the volatile.

I do not paint, write or sculpt. I work the raw fabric: mass, scale, syntax.

My medium is Matter. My method is Madness: the refusal to let reality settle into predictable forms.

Body

A body is not only biological.

  1. A word

    Unyielding. The smallest body I build with.

  2. A sentence

    Sudden. It arrives whole.

  3. A paragraph

    Volatile. Sentences under pressure in one room.

  4. A literature

    A dense collection of text. Mass made of pages.

  5. A work

    What a body builds and leaves standing.

  6. A human

    The biological body. It carries all the others. It needs rest.

  7. The Earth

    A vast landscape. Ground that shifts.

  8. A celestial monolith

    The crushing weight. The largest body I can name.

Material

Everything is material.

A syllable has density.
A void has gravity.
A blank space is a room waiting to collapse or expand.

Method

  1. I take down the wall between the small and the vast.
  2. I give one word the reverence of a monument.
  3. I carve away until only the heavy core remains.
  4. I let elements collide.
  5. I let syntax bend.
  6. I let structure find its own equilibrium.

I do not build clean frameworks to contain the world.

I architect the spaces where the world breaks open.
